ISD Project Management

In many cases, instructional design is a finite activity. It may take a few months or a few years, but for most organizations it is not an on-going need. When you DO need ISD work done however, it’s a major endeavor. Instructional designers need to be hired or contracted, project schedules need to be made (and adhered to!), internal experts need to be identified and cajoled into assisting, presenters may need to be hired or contracted, desktop publishing needs to take place, train-the-trainers need to be run, pilot courses need to be implemented and more ISD work done, evaluations and certification may need to be created… we can do ALL of that for you. In addition to easing your work load, you’ll have peace-of-mind as well. We have never – truly, never – missed a deadline or gone over budget.

And when the project is over – we pack our bags and turn out the lights.

Training Your SME’s to be Trainers

More and more organizations are operating on absurdly tight deadlines. These deadlines don’t allow us the luxury of getting in there and working with your SMEs to design the courses. Instead, we can train your SMEs to be designers. And then we’ll stick around to assist, coach, review, and edit. They won’t be experts in designing and we won’t be expert in the content, but you will have effective, user friendly programs, guaranteed to transfer knowledge and skills back on the job.

Technical Documentation and Usability Testing

It seems like every organization is writing its own software these days. We don’t have to tell you that the programmers should NOT be your trainers (right?). Luckily, we speak geek. We can translate between your programmers and your end-users and create materials that make the transition from classroom learning to on-the-job aids.

Triage

Do you have a training program currently in place, but it just doesn’t seem to work? Let us review it and offer a number of suggestions to fix the problem. Often we’ll find that there isn’t enough interactivity, that there is an assumed level of prerequisite knowledge, or that it’s all theory and not enough action. It’s seldom that the content is wrong – it’s simply a matter of it being presented in a way that nobody can learn from it! We can help you salvage your organization’s initial investment and make a so-so training program terrific.
